Bankruptcy:

What is bankruptcy?
Bankruptcy is a right guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. Its purpose is to help people and businesses who have financial problems "get a fresh start" by getting out from under their bills.

How does bankruptcy work?
Your attorney files a Court case, called a bankruptcy, asking the Court to order all creditors to stop trying to collect from you and to "discharge" (wipe out) debts you owe.

Isn't bankruptcy expensive?
No. In fact, most bankruptcies can be handled for much less than you might expect. Compare our fees to what you will gain once your bills are gone.

Won't bankruptcy ruin my credit?
If you are having financial problems, bankruptcy can only help your credit. Why? Because you will no longer owe most of the bills that are causing your credit problems. Talk to any banker.

But I've been sued!
Then you should act quickly. Filing bankruptcy stops most creditor actions including lawsuits and garnishments.

Will I lose everything?
Not at all. Kansas and Missouri both have exemption limits on both homes and cars but you must know your rights to make full use of the system. Hiring an attorney is the best decision you can make when facing a bankruptcy or other financial difficulty.

Is bankruptcy for me?
Only your attorney can properly advise you after considering all your circumstances.

What shall I do now?
Call our office to schedule a convenient time to come in and get started. if you have more questions, please call me at (913) 422-0610. I will be happy to answer your questions without charge or obligation.

At what age should I NOT declare bankruptcy?
The over-55 crowd is the most likely age group to declare bankruptcy, the AARP says.  This group is carrying mortgages, home equity loans and credit card balances.

How do I get creditors to stop calling?
The strategy of debt collectors is to harass, frighten or shame their target into paying money that frequently really needs to go for essentials. Did you know that you may have the right to make them stop contacting you? Email or call us now to find out what your rights are.
